For the safety of the students, there are additional guidelines and rules you will want to be aware of. They may seem like a lot, but has become necessary to create the safest environment possible for outdoor recess. Thanks for reading them over so that you can support our wonderful recess aides!
1. As students come out the recess doors, they should be reminded to walk on the blacktop to prevent scrapes and injuries.
2. The western gate (nearer to the Kindergarten playground) is the opening they should use to enter the field. The eastern gate is the one they should use when the bell rings and they come to the blacktop to line up. This prevents kids being bottlenecked and accidentally injured in the narrow gate. Any help you can give in guiding children to the correct gate is appreciated!
3. For now the Kindergarten swings and playground are off limits to 1st-6th grades to allow our Kindergarteners and Life Skills classes to have a safe place to play.
4. Students aren't allowed to go up the hill to the Jr High track or past the field cones that the recess aides have put out. This ensures that our students will stay in sight as well as prevent injuries by Junior High students during their PE classes outside.
5. When 5th-6th graders line up after recess, they cross the blacktop and walk in front of the school to line up by the dumpsters on the north side of the school. Please remind them to walk and stay on the sidewalk the entire way to their lines.
Thank you so much for your support and help!
